Turtle Power

So, last Saturday night Andy and I went over to his parents house to celebrate his youngest sister, Cally's, 20th birthday. It is so strange that she is getting older but so much fun to have her as a friend!!!! She had 14 of her nearest and dearest friends over for dinner and cake. The food was wonderful and conversation was great. Cally look beautiful as usual and she got some practice opening presents in front of people and did great.
A side not to the birthday happened when Andy and I arrived at his parents home. Megan, Scott and Bill were all outside looking in the bed of a truck that was parked on the street. We got out and asked them what they were doing. Bill said that the girls had gone down to the lake that day and found a snapping turtle floating in the water and they brought it back. Well, when I heard turtle I was thinking that they found a little box turtle and it was no big deal. Um, I was wrong. Andy and I could not help ourselves and went on over to take a look. What we saw in the back of the truck was shocking. All the neighborhood kids were coming over to take a look, some even in their pajamas. It was a site to see and smell. Thank goodness I was on the side of the truck that the smell was wafting away from so I never did get a whiff.

There was some mention during the night of what was going to happen to the turtle. The girls had great plans to go and stick it in someones bathtub to scare them. From what I heard, the stench from the turtle warned the victim before he could be scared. I heard that he almost threw up on it trying to move it out of the apartment and that their apartment still has a faint smell of the rotting turtle.

So you say you want to see some pictures. Well, these are some that were taken of it in the back of the truck I think by Bill. Amy sent them to me and Cally said that there are more on Facebook so if you are her friend you can check them out there. Warning... this is scary and gross. Danielle, Andy's sis-in-law said that she did not want to believe that it came from the lake because she may have trouble swimming in it knowing that these guys could be lurking around.

T-Minus

3 days, and frankly my stomach is a mess. Is this normal for a person to be so nervous about running. In my head this is crazy that I am thinking about it so much and know that I am totally prepared. Try to tell that to my tummy and forget about it. So today I am going to do my best to keep positive thoughts running (pun intended) through my head and hope that at some point in the next three days those positive thoughts reach my stomach. Keep me in your prayers!!! Love you all, always!

Old Gray Beard

but I like to think that it is the yellow lab in her coming out. Old Gray Beard is what Andy calls Laney these days. It does seem like she has a new nickname every other day. Laney-Mae, Lane, Wane, Waney, Lane, Andy also calls her Little ______ and the blank is filled in with whatever nickname he has given me at that moment. Laney is a great dog but she has been giving us some grief lately. Probably it is our fault but come on Lane can you give us one full night of sleep?

So here in lies the problem. Since Andy and I started our marathon (you know I can't go too many post without mentioning the marathon) training our runs have been on the long side to put it mildly. During the week we have been running 5 one day, 8 the next and the 5 after that. All of this gets followed up with some crazy long run on the weekend. Our days off consist of resting or going to the gym to lift some weights. This means that we have not been able to take the Princess Pup on any runs. We try to get her out of the house at least once a week to swim or something, but sometime she just has to live with us kicking a soccer ball for her in the backyard, she is just like her mother isn't she ;) ,or a ride in the car to the store. We have not be the best parents to her when it come to her exercises and we feel so bad. Guess how she has been paying us back? She has been waking up at like 4-5 am and wanting to go outside where she proceeds to bark at who knows what! Are you kidding me, I am sure that your neighbors love us right now.

So tonight is the first night that we are back to running Laney's length of a run. 3 miles is usually the max that we like to run her because she is getting older, 9 in December! So Laney and I will venture out tonight for her first run in like forever. So if you are out on Cherokee Blvd tonight and you see me coming, stop me and say hi, Laney will love you for the chance to take a quick break I am sure!!!!

Here is our little Gray Beard.

Hump Day

Wednesday! Not much is going on with Andy and I. I was hoping that I would have some pictures from the weekend but I am still waiting on those. One of my dear friends got married this past weekend, Rachel Sanders! Her sister and I were talking and she said that someone told her that Rachel was glowing all day. She really was. So beautiful and the weather was perfect even though everything happened inside. I can't wait to share the pictures. One funny thing did happen. Jason, the groom, had his nephew at the wedding who is 6 months old. He was crying during the reception and I got to hold him and quiet him down. I guess I did such a good job that when he started crying later on his mother handed him to me and said, "Here you try!" Well not only did I get him quiet, but he fell right to sleep. So there Andy and I are with this totally cute sleeping baby. After a little while Andy told me that he was going to go home because he was exhausted from the day (12 mile run and cutting the grass were among some of the things that he did that day!) and I said, "Okay see you at home!" To which her replied, "Please don't bring HIM home with you!" and pointed to the baby. So funny, but that kid was totally steal-able. He was such a good and happy baby. Don't worry, I gave him back. As soon as I get some pictures I will post them. Love to you all!

Weekend of Showers!!!

Wow, what a weekend! Here goes anther weekend recap!
Friday: Breakfast with my roommate from college. She came all the way down from New York and I got to hang out with her a bit. Don't worry B, I will not mention your speeding ticket!
Lunch: With one of my now old high school girls, Laurel. She is attending Christian Brother's in Memphis and Andy and I miss her tons.
Dinner: We helped throw a shower for our dear friends Chris and Julie. They are getting hitched on May 16th and we gave them a party. Tons of fun, tons of people.

Saturday: Morning: RAN 22 MILES!!!!!!
Lunch: Shower for Megan. She and Scotty-poo are getting married June 13th and some friends wanted to honor Meg. She got some really nice presents. I missed the beginning due to my run but it was a really pretty shower.
Dinner part 1: Easter dinner with Gigi and Granddaddy, oh and the rest of the fam (aunts, uncles, cousins and all) at Buddy's! Great company, great food and great costumes, thanks to Andy's dad. He got everyone bunny ears! Not sure where I put mine?????
Dinner part 2: Baby shower thrown by Chris and Julie (from Friday night) for Hunter and Emily. Hunt and Em are expecting their first baby boy on June 2nd. Baby Liam will be here soon. Andy and I got to feel him kick for the first time on Saturday. It was so cool and so strange!!! We can't wait to meet this sweet baby boy!

Sunday: Church with the family (Andy's that is) and then brunch at their house. Another morning of great food and great company.
The afternoon was filled with cleaning the house, and sleeping through the Masters. I woke up just in time to see Tiger lose at that was a bummer. Good thing that I don't really like golf all that much.

You can see the weekend was wild. We had so much fun because we got to hang out with our dear friends and family. What more could you ask for? Oh, probably me remembering to take my camera with me. I have to get that thing back from Andy... Love to you all!!!

In Love

So, I have told you all before that my lovely, sweet, and beautiful sister (in-law) is getting married in June. We are so excited and love, love , love her future husband and our future brother. They are so cute together! If you ever want a really good laugh you need to challenge them to some sort of a game, horseshoes or cornhole are the best!
Well, the two of them have been dating for some time and are sweetly affectionate. I must say that we have never seen them kiss, well most of us that is, UNTIL NOW. I am presenting to you Megan and Scott's engagement pictures....

They had these pictures taken on Sunday (before the weather decided that it wanted to be winter again, grrrrr) by a photographer called Jennie Andrews. She did a wonderful job and captured them so beautifully. I can't wait until the wedding day pictures come back. Of course we need to have the wedding day first. At any rate, I love you Megan and Scott and we are looking forward to a lifetime of memories together!!!!!

remember

do you remember on the last post when I talked about how wrong our weathermen are? Well more weather info, yesterday I got a reading on my car that it was 78 degrees. Well, tonight or tomorrow we are supposed to have snow. SNOW! Ahhh, I mean really I can't wait until we hit 90 degrees consistently. I am over winter and whoever is in charge of that really needs to get on the ball. Winter is over, I WANT SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
